This year has been right down scary. At the onset of this pandemic, everyone was scared. The unknown always seems to be worse than reality doesn't it? I was worried, but the little people in our house were even more worried.

"Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation." ~Psalm 91:14-16 NIV
March 12, our world stood still. Schools started closing, restaurants shut down, and the world as we knew it came to a screeching halt. My youngest was terrified. He climbed into bed with me that night and held on tight. The weight of the world was on his chest and I could feel it there in the silence. As I tried to think of things I could say or do to help ease his worry, I was gently reminded of what has always reassured me... Psalm 91. I read it to him, every word. We went back through each verse and I made sure he understood this promise from God. He was at peace, he was reassured, and he slept like a baby - the weight he was carrying was lifted.
Since that night, I have been very intentional about the fact that I wasn't going to the let the fear of the unknown consume my life. The words Faith Not Fear have become my daily mantra. Because you know what? Even I need to be reminded daily that my focus should be on my faith. I don't know what you're going through, but I can assure you that when you choose God and make Him your focus - the rest of the world will fade and you too can rest in the arms of the Lord. It doesn't mean that life will perfect, and all rainbows and lollipops. But, it does mean that my Father sees me - hears me - and he has promised to be with me. And, He will do the same for you.
